This skinning project is a representation of a member of the "Slybirds Group" the 350th Fighter Squadron of the 353rd Fighter Group.
P47d Thunderbolt BN. 42-26656 LH*D "Ernestyne"

The pilot of this Tbolt was Lt. Robert F. Unangst Sr. who named his aircraft after his wife's first name.
It would seem that Lt.Unangst was credited with 1 aerial and two ground victories during his tour.
Stationed at Metfield, England, circa October 1944, this skin is representative of the All-Metal fighter of the 353rd FG with the Fighter Group and National Insignia markings of the day.
